Thinner vs. Thicker Formulas
One difference between rust protection products is the formula’s thickness.
Thinner formulas such as the type Krown uses, are designed to flow quickly into small seams and joints. This rapid penetration helps coat hidden areas where moisture can gather. Downside – thinner formulas will drip. When a customer wants a similar product to Krown’s, Oil Gard offers our Classic low-drip formula, a tried and true rustproofing product, mostly requested by some of our legacy customers.
Thicker formulas like Oil Gard Formula 2 No-Drip are engineered to actively creep and penetrate metal pores, tight joints, and seams, while staying in place. This proprietary formula uses high-viscosity, petroleum-based oils (never wax, and no solvents) to create a durable barrier against moisture, salt, and abrasion. You want a product to remain on your vehicle where it’s needed most – with the added benefit of no messy residue on your driveway or garage floor.
Rust and corrosion are caused when moisture and oxygen reach bare metal. At Oil Gard, both of our rust-proofing formulas, Classic and Formula 2 No-Drip, are designed to penetrate 10 key areas of the vehicle where it’s needed most: bumpers, underbody, doors, quarter panels, wheel wells and more.
